Waking Up Waking up I want to stop the action listen for cues look for signs of how to do this day. On this day there must be a way to not repeat the running, striving, earnest pursuit of the disciplined life. There must be a way to live—like the cat waiting to make a move stretching, looking, pondering— Oh yes, he ponders— You can tell by his unblinking gaze looking at the same spot— —a veritable Buddha he is— not a twitch out of rhythm with his singular ‘Cat-ness’— His tail precisely curled Around his rounded haunches. Today could be slowed down to the speed of the cat— Sheer Being-ness connecting to all the Life I so earnestly hurry past— Letting one tiny piece of this world overlap with an unseen world allowing space for a deep unfolding. I love this, and especially your astute observations of your cat.
Cats do have a Buddha-like ability to live in the movement and to slide from moment to moment with no apparent effort or anxiety. Would that we could be more like a cat, as you suggest, at least upon awakening, as the day unfolds.
